The last stop on our journey – the other Cafeteria style with surprisingly swift service.

Last stop – ski school town! Lots of the ski kids and teeacher have reserved tables here, and it makes sense. It’s an excellent run restaurant with lots of food selections and generally a decent cost for what you get.

The Review:

It’s fitting that the last Schnitzel we tried was at a location we weren’t even 100% sure existed – the Garmischer-Haus, the official mountain Cafeteria. Every ski mountain on earth has some version of it, and this is ours. I’ve never heard of anyone going there, and I find my eyes passing over it when at the bottom of the Kruezwankl lift. For a Cafeteria on the weekend at midday, I was shocked at the speed of the line – absolutely well oiled machine of a team working there – love to see it. One short “Schnitzel mit pommes, bitte” later and you get exactly what you’d expect. The flavor of the Schnitzel itself was surprisingly good – I thought it tasted better than the Osterfelder 2000 – though some cranberry sauce really would’ve put it over the top. While I don’t know if I’d frequent Garmischer-Haus often, it’s a really great Cafeteria option with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, rapidservice, and good portions for the price.
